Hi! Welcome to my blog where I document my adventures in basketball, My Boston Speaks Camps, my blogs and and my days in Boston :)

A Way of Life...

A Way of Life...

If you follow me on twitter/social media, you’ve probably learned by now that I’m a relatively outgoing, outspoken, blunt woman. I wanted to drop this blog because regardless of my prolific tweets about the Celtics, there is so much more to me. Condensing my immense personality to the now 280 character limit is rather restrictive sometimes. So here we are.

Red Auerbach said, “The Boston Celtics are not a basketball team, they are a way of life”. I have that quote tattooed into my sleeve amongst several Celtics legends’ numbers. That part of my tattoo is what people notice most because “MsSamanthaMay”, is Celtics. But beneath that top half of my tattoo, on the lower part of my arm, is a lighthouse. My favorite place in the world, besides the TD Garden. This lighthouse is in Portland, Maine. My hometown. I currently live & work as a nanny in Boston, but Portland, Maine is only a short hour and a half drive (I drive fast). Portland is forever my home. It’s where my family is. My best friends. It’s comfortable. As much as I love Boston, this “comfort” level elicited from home, is only evoked when I’m in the Garden. That unifying camaraderie and positivity is so rare in this perpetually negative world. I want people to understand how unrelentingly fulfilling being in that type of environment is. Never tires. It really feels like “home”.

As much as “Ball is life” (and it absolutely is); another genuine passion of mine is children. I have a BA in Psychology and with that degree, I’ve extensively established an amazing résumé in working with children with special needs, with an emphasis on kids with autism. In a way to unify my two largest passions, I’ve decided to develop a basketball camp for special needs children. As many of you may know, autism is a social ineptness disorder and organized sports such as basketball is more difficult for these kids to fully experience and enjoy. But, a structured day camp, with special guests, where I’m utilizing my ample experience in both autism and basketball, is going to be exorbitantly fulfilling. I am so excited for this, so stay tuned for further details on that part of my journey :)

In the meantime, let’s all watch the Patriots destroy the Titans tonight. Let’s fucking gooo!!!!
